CEO & Founder, M&T Global 22

Michael Barrett is the CEO and Founder of M&T Global 22, where he provides consulting & advisory services in strategy, new product development, global expansion and governance frameworks to senior leadership teams and board of directors. He possesses functional expertise in finance, mergers and acquisitions, marketing, banking regulatory engagement, crisis management and corporate governance. Mr. Barrett has led large complex international businesses in Europe, Australia, and Asia. His expertise covers Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking and Consumer Banking. Mr. Barrett has advised and provided financial services to leading global companies in the Technology, Healthcare, Manufacturing & Industrial, and Financial Services industries.

Mr. Barrett previously was the Head of Wells Fargo International Strategy, Innovation and Legal Entity Governance for all banking businesses globally. He was also the President and Chief Financial Officer of Danube LLC Holdings, the parent company of Wells Fargo Bank Ireland. Prior to leading the global growth strategy, Mr. Barrett was the Global Head of Legal Entity Governance and a member of the Wells Fargo International Executive Committee where he led strategy and entity optimization engagement with the Global Banking Regulators. He previously served as the Chief Marketing Officer and Head of New Business Development for Wells Fargo Bank Equipment Finance, a division of Wholesale Commercial Banking. Prior to Wells Fargo, Mr. Barrett had a 25+ year career with GE and GE Capital where he was the CEO of GE Capital Money China after serving as the COO of GE Capital Greater China. Prior to these positions, he led business development for GE Capital Consumer Finance Australia, and marketing, mergers & acquisitions, and CRM for GE Capital’s Global Consumer Finance business in Western Europe.

Mr. Barrett is a member of the Executive Council of American Securities – a private equity investment firm. He also serves on the Board of Directors of NWN Carousel – a leading AI Cloud Communications Service Provider. Mr. Barrett is a Sr. Advisor to the Board of ConSol USA, a cybersecurity & technology workforce solutions company. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania where he is a member of the Executive Committee. He also serves as President of the Penn Alumni Association, where he leads 300,000+ Penn alumni globally. Mr. Barrett is on the National Board of Directors for the I Have a Dream Foundation. Mr. Barrett was a former member of the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in China where he represented over 2,800 multinational companies doing business in China.

Mr. Barrett is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania - School of Engineering where he earned a B.A.S. He has an MBA from the University of Michigan and a Certificate in Corporate Governance from the Wharton School of Business.
